Sad news
This email was sent by Danielle to all members: It is with great sorrow that we announce that Jerry Borell passed away gently today There will be no funeral.
Jerry was a true gentleman and a legend at Miramar. He was commodore from 2004-2006 and did the club proud. He was an elegant and avid Division 1 racer. If he, and Barbara, weren’t leading the pack, he was taking a different route – either way he usually finished first. They raced last year and placed. Jerry was 92 when he passed.
For the past years, he kept the club abreast of news and events that we mariners should be aware of, such as movement or disappearance of buoys, dredging, bridge closures and everything you should know to enjoy your time on the water safely. He regularly reported on the Local Notice to Mariners (LNM) and posted those publications in the Day Room so everyone could read it.
He and Barbara Becker, his precious significant other, got together almost 19 years ago (they were both widowed after many year from Miramar members) and haven’t been apart since. He is survived by his two sons – Joel & Gianna Borell and Stephen Borell and Barbara’s children – Brian Becker and Susan Becker.
We will miss him terribly.
